Contentedness as a vampire was usually a stomach full of blood, or the smell of a freshly opened wound, or the sight of a crowded city at night. Rarely did it ever consist of hugs and gentle touches.

Wilbur wishes he could say the words hurt like a blade to the chest, but he couldn’t deny the fact that he’d been expecting them. He didn’t turn or look surprised. In fact, he only gave Tommy a low hum in response to the statement.

Summary
Lack of brain-power, lack of white blood cells to fend it off, lack of the full biology at all to even be considered affected by it even though Tommy clearly had been affected by it, judging by the pile of bones in the living room of a mountain house.
Letting go for that mere second, for the virus to take over and rid you of the burden of having to think, of feeling, of seeing and everything else that came with life… something you could be aware of and not aware of all the same.
It sounded right up Tubbo’s alley.
or: Tommy was dead, again, and Tubbo wasn't doing too hot.

Summary
Tommy’s “zombification”, that’s what Ponk had called it when the boy went to see him.
When the growing vines in his ears, curling around his head and digging into his hair got too much and too thick to manage. When every crack and joint in his bones and muscles felt as if it was the end of the world and Tommy’s entire skeleton was just going to fall apart right then and there.
Zombification.
Otherwise known as… the process a piglin goes through should they enter the overworld.
Or; Tommy is dying. Again.
