Summary
Loki’s hands are numb. The room feels stretched out and far away, like the view through a fish-eye lens. He’s suddenly very afraid that he might be losing his mind.
They’re all looking at him. Casey, O.B., B-15, Sylvie, Mobius. And there’s shock on all their faces, and confusion, and dismay—but there’s also concern, and it cuts deeper than a dagger.
So Loki does what he does best, and he hides. He stumbles away, away from the Loom, away from the prying stares, away from everything just for a moment—his breathing is shallow and far too fast, but he can’t stop it. He can’t stop anything except time, so that’s what he does. A flick of his trembling finger freezes everything, leaving him alone in a sudden, eerie silence.
All the time in the world. It’s too much and not enough.
(Or: one too many failed repetitions pushes Loki past his breaking point, frozen in time just before the end of the universe. Mobius finds him anyway.)

Summary
Jake shoots bolt upright, gasping and shuddering as a rush of night air chills the sweat sticking the t-shirt to his back. The frantic staccato of his heart is so loud it almost seems to echo in the dark.
Short, ragged breaths rattle his body as he tips his head back against the wall. It’s only been—what, a few days? A week?—since their return from the Duat. Maybe coming back to life fried his brain. Or a bunch of wires got crossed, and now Marc’s nightmares are transferring over to Jake like some sort of weird feedback loop.
Nightmare feels like too childish a description for…whatever that was. He can almost feel the sand between his fingers, blood on his palms, stone walls closing in around him like—
No. Get it together.
(After Harrow’s defeat, Jake is determined to let Marc and Steven enjoy some semblance of a normal life.
Turns out, serving Khonshu in secret is the easy part.)

“Can I ask you a weird question?”
Layla studies Jake over the rim of her glass, curious but unperturbed. He raises an eyebrow at her.
“How weird?”
For Layla, that word could mean a host of things. He’s anticipating something like an ethically dubious would-you-rather question, or maybe another diatribe about stolen artifacts in museums. Her actual response comes out of left field like a runaway freight train.
“Can I hug you?”
Jake chokes so violently that lemonade sprays back into his eyes.

Summary
“When was the last time you had something to eat?”
The question catches Marc off guard.
“I—dunno, maybe—maybe dinner?” His memory of the last few days is a little hazy. “Last night?”
He expects Steven to scold him—understandably so, considering they share the body Marc hasn’t fed for nearly 24 hours—but the emotion he feels radiating from his alter as soon as the words leave his mouth isn’t frustration, or disgust, or derision. It’s sadness.
“Well, no wonder you feel terrible.”

As expected, his words are met with no reply. He pushes back the feeling of annoyance, and before he could open his mouth again, a large collage of thunder and lightning strike loudly, lighting up the entire room. The creature's eyes widen with pure terror and It's large hands go to cover his ears. Victor now realizes what the problem is.
“The storm? You are afraid of the storm?” He fails to hide the incredulousness in his voice.
OR: After Elizabeth and William meet the Creature, Victor has a change of heart and tries to be a better father to his son.

Bucky's dog tags were folded in the crease of the paper he'd torn from his journal, reading: "Steve, here. You have them, if you want them. You have me, if you want me. I’ve never tried loving a man before but for you I’ve run headfirst into wars and Death’s wide, gaping jaws, so this is easy in comparison. This is like breathing."
It was so dark when Bucky handed him the note, the fire just burning out, and he glanced back only once to see Steve watching him as he walked away.
