Summary
Needing a break from the tedium of bounty hunter work, a newly-exiled Jaster Mereel investigates rumors of a historical artifact on Dantooine while contemplating his morals in the wake of his exile. Arriving on the planet, Jaster discovers he might be in for more than a light vacation as rumors of a missing academic lost in the cave system beneath a small farming village pull him into an unexpected rescue mission. The details of the academic’s story aren’t adding up, however, and as Jaster ventures further into the cave his questions only grow.
Just who is this obviously fake-named “Jo Antilles,” and what more, exactly, is she lying to Jaster about?
