What better punishment was there? Or perhaps that term was insensitive. It could go both ways, divine and mortal, to either the father or his son. Endeavor's sudden retirement hadn't at all helped Japan during its desperate time of need, nor had it assured civilians that their way of being was ever to be reinstated even slightly. Maybe that was a good thing; or perhaps it wasn't. But whether the world beyond these haunted walls shall descend into chaos or ascend into order was out of his hand now.
There were people in the top tanks far more suited for the task than he could ever hope to be. He had done his part in the clash of ideals, and now he was setting his sights on the ghost of his eldest son.
He owed him that much, at the very least.
Enji resolves to atone for his mistakes, especially for the child he had irreparably broken. He'll do whatever it takes. He won't abandon Touya again.
Here's hoping that he can cling to his own sanity until then.

The stranger that caught him sounds exhausted.
Dabi – frozen in front of one of the fridges with his knee bent at 90 degrees and propping up his zipped open backpack, one hand stuck inside to lift up the fake bottom and the other shoving a tray of meat in – looks at the man standing ahead of him. If he sounded exhausted, then his appearance sure confirmed that he is. He doesn’t look like he’s even in his thirties, but there are dark circles under his eyes and his black hair is carelessly spread over his slumped shoulders. His posture is almost as bad as Dabi’s and he has just about the most haunted expression Dabi has ever seen on another person.
“You gonna make a fuss over some sausages?” he snaps.
“Kind of my job.”
Dabi scoffs.
“What are you, a cop?” he asks mockingly with all the attitude a kid his age could emulate, and then some.

A little bit about Touya’s time after he died and some people he met that he’ll definitely never see again. Right…? Really, he’s just a normal teenager doing normal teenage things, as long as you don’t ask questions.
