Summary
The next time Shane looked into their bedroom, Ilya sat on the edge of the bed. While Shane waited for his husband to move, all he saw instead were slumped shoulders, his head hanging forward, arms unmoving as they held his body just about upright and feet that carelessly touched the floor with no intention of standing or walking.
He was not going to get up. He wasn't even going to move a muscle in the next hour, probably.Carefully, Shane opened the door further and slowly walked towards Ilya. "Morning, baby." He hadn't expected a reaction, but the empty face that just barely managed to look up at him still hurt.
Or:
A short exploration of what a depressive episode might look like for a married Shane and Ilya. They are domestic and loving as ever, but life can still be hard. (I promise I don't want them to hurt, just ... mental illness, innit?)

Summary
It's Fall of 2014 and Ilya Rozanov has cut all ties with Russia. But there's no such thing as a clean break, and leaving isn't as simple as never going back.
-
Basically a very self-indulgent fic about how hard it would be for Ilya to actually move on from the pain of the past and to go no contact with his family in a timeline where Grigori is still alive. Also, Ilya deserves to be known and loved by more people than just Shane and Sveta. Forced/Found Family here we come.
*Sequel to my canon-divergence fic "To only ever know the cold" (go read that first or this won't make sense!)Series

Summary
"You're not Deaf though, right?" Hollander asked.
Ilya shook his head. "No, not completely."
"Do you use hearing aids or anything?"
"Ah no. My papa says is lazy. I can hear, so should try harder."
Ilya is hard of hearing. He used to sign with his mama, who was Deaf. But his papa won't let him have help. He finds he has more in common with Shane Hollander than he expected.

Summary
“Is just the new routine, okay?” Ilya pleaded, his voice breaking. “The pills were working and now there is more stress so I just need to get used to it and will be fixed, okay?”
“How bad is it?”
“Shane, please.”
“Ilya, you promised no more secrets, no more hiding. How bad?”
He covered his face in his palms, his elbows resting on his knees, and took in a shuddered breath. “...bad.”
OR
After Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander get married, Ilya discovers that his depression won't magically disappear just because he finally has love and a real family. Summary
Yuna’s entire body aches, and it would appear that her instincts were right— Rozanov is small, and he’s vulnerable, and he’s tired, and he needed somewhere safe to rest.
And Yuna can’t help the weird sense that she’s honoured— her home was somewhere for Rozanov to go, even if she and David knew nothing about any of it, even if they still don’t, Shane knew it would be safe for Rozanov here. Shane told him to come home.

Summary
Another red light.
“Ilya?” Shane leans closer this time, brushing his knuckles lightly against Ilya’s jaw.
“Where does it hurt?” His voice is tight, urgent. “Talk to me.”
No answer.
Ilya’s head has tipped toward the window again. His lashes rest against fever-flushed skin, cheeks burning red under the passing streetlights. His breathing is too shallow — each inhale catching faintly at the end like it hurts to pull air in.
“Ilya?” Shane presses. “Hey. Tell me where it hurts.”
Nothing. The silence slams into him.
“Fuck—” His hand tightens on Ilya’s thigh. He gives it a firmer shake. “Fuck, fuck, fuck. No. Ilya. Hey.”Ilya doesn’t get sick often.
But when he does, it’s never small.
Fever is the one thing that can kill him.
He knows it. The doctors know it. The ER staff knows it.
Shane doesn’t.
And Ilya would like to keep it that way.
