Maybe he was just going crazy.—

Summary
Purpled has always thought of himself as something akin to a crow; the ones that follow invading armies. The armies go to war, and after the battles are done, the crows descend upon the battlefield and take their pick from the remains.
Because Wilbur Soot and Tommy go to war, and Purpled stays behind and watches and is careful to only make a move when it benefits himself.

He never had a reason to, and he didn't care enough to bring it up. That's how things worked in Las Nevadas. You didn't talk unless you needed something, and that suited Purpled just fine.
