Summary
Dave Strider, photography major in college likes to party. The person on the other end, an angry, short, and kind-hearted guy by the name of Karkat ends up dragging him home...and one roller-coaster of romance ensues. He has long since woken up, and with the help of his sister, has fully embraced his fae heritage. Jade says he has some big destiny ahead of him, but he's not quite ready for that kind of responsibility. He's not even sure he wants it. Destiny is a big word, and he's just a wind sprite.
Dave was born with the genetic curse of second sight. Able to see the world of faeries, he must hide this gift or risk their wrath. He's lived with this danger for his entire life. After a tragic incident back in Texas, he is finally getting settled in this new town. Rose says he has some big part to play in the future of the local faeries, but he wants nothing to do with that. He just wants to live a normal life without any of this bullshit.
This is the story about those destinies, and how the two intertwine.
Meanwhile, Dirk has his own part to play. After being blinded the previous year, he was certain he could stay away from the fae forever. That is, until Jake English walked into his life. But, strangely, Jake doesn't seem to know about his faerie blood.

Summary

Summary
Dave Strider, upon first inspection, is not that noteworthy. He reeks of alpha pheromones, he's handsome, he's cocky--he is the stereotype. Most people don't give him a second glance--betas and omegas included, because he's also got the faintest hint of omega pheromones on him, too--unless it's to admire how lovely he looks, regardless.
You never really have, either! He's just Dave--Dave who laughs so hard when your pranks fail that he's squirted apple juice out of his nose several times. Dave who acts like he doesn't give a fuck, but still trips all over himself to make sure his friends are happy. Dave who listens to really pompous, edgy music just so he has the knowledge to rip the songs apart when someone tries to defend them. Dave who collects dead things! Dave who makes you wish it weren't such a societal weirdness for two alphas to Bond--because if you're honest, you want Dave more than you could ever want anyone else, compatible hormones or no.
He's awesome, weird--but a totally normal guy underneath all that fake, layered on coolkid facade.
And apparently, he's not actually an alpha.
