Summary
He had grown up competing with him.
Daniel, the perfect son, who died young and left only idealized memories behind.
Daniel, who became more than a brother. He became an altar. A legend.
His parents didn’t just mourn Daniel. They worshipped him.
And they measured Buck against him every single day of his life.
He was never enough. Never quiet enough, never smart enough, never obedient enough. His every breath seemed to offend them.
It wasn’t Daniel’s fault he died. Buck knew that.
But some part of him—some furious, aching part—hated Daniel for it.or
Buck doesn't talk much about his childhood, and Maddie doesn't either. There are several reasons that Buck doesn't like to think about. However, when his parents come to visit him in LA and it triggers his childhood trauma again, it might finally be time to confront it. (I'm bad at summaries)

Summary
'“I’m sorry,” Eddie whispers back, wiping a few stray tears that he didn’t realize managed to escape his eyes.
“Baby, you have nothing to be sorry for,” Buck assures him, holding his hand tightly.
He brings their joined hands up to kiss his knuckles, lips grazing Eddie’s silver wedding band.'
or
Eddie is still learning how to accept the rarity that is unconditional love, and that visions of the past don’t always mean he’s stuck there– just that he’s human.
or
Buck does something that reminds Eddie of Shannon and Eddie feels like a terrible husband for it.

Summary
“Morning, champ,” Buck says as he watches Eddie blink awake.
Eddie smiles lazily and throws an arm over Buck’s waist, pulling him closer. “Champ,” he mumbles, laughing fondly. “Morning, handsome.”
Buck isn’t sure what’s worse: that this could be never-ending trial and error, or that he’ll never beat Eddie at his own game. That’s two easy points for Eddie to Buck’s zero.
Buck is desperate to find the pet name that best suits Eddie, because that's what a good friend and boyfriend would do! He's also trying not to say 'I love you' too soon, because it is too soon... right?

Summary
By the time his last class rolls around, Eddie is on the verge of tears. He fucked up. He never should’ve bothered with college, this clearly isn’t the right path for him. He’s rounding the corner, ready to get this last class over with and then call it a day when it’s like a wall materializes in front of him. He smacks into it, stumbling and nearly falling until two callused hands grip his upper arms, steadying him.
“W-whoa, sorry man. I did not see you there.”
Startled, Eddie glances up. He’s met with bright blue eyes, blinking at him sheepishly. Something in Eddie's face must show the close proximity he is to a breakdown because the look shifts to concern, and the man doesn't let go of him.
“Hey, you okay?”

Summary
He can’t handle standing next to Eddie for however long it takes to clean the engine, he just can’t. He’s going to lose it. And he’s going to lose Eddie, too, because he’ll inevitably either kiss him or confess his undying love. He can’t even guarantee he won’t just drop down on one knee and propose.
“Oh, yeah, I’ll be right there, Bobby!” Buck yells before dropping his rag into the bucket and taking off towards the loft, leaving Eddie standing there dumbfounded.
“Buck, no one was calling for you!” he shouts, exasperated. Buck ignores him and bounds up the stairs.
Or: Buck realizes he's in love with Eddie shortly before a 24 hour shift. Out of fear of accidentally confessing his love, Buck tries to avoid him at all costs. If only Eddie wasn't so derermined to talk to him.

Summary
Buck didn’t like him at first.
Eddie Diaz was all hard lines and strict rules with a bone structure that could cut through glass and scared away his fans. Which... if you asked Bobby, was the point but still!
He also yelled at Buck which was fine. It’s not like it hurt his feelings.
It didn’t.
It didn’t, Maddie!
It also definitely didn’t turn Buck on either. Nope.
Stop it, Maddie!
After a traumatizing home invasion, Bobby Nash decides to hire a bodyguard for his lead singer.

Summary
“C'mere," Buck says, sitting up to scoot closer to Eddie.
"What are you doing?” Eddie asks, and Buck sighs.
"You can just kiss me, get a taste of the lip balm, and tell me what flavour you think it is.”
Eddie can’t believe his ears.
"That is such a stupid way to win a bet, Buck."
“Oh so you concede?"
Eddie rolls his eyes, shaking his head before planting both hands on the sides of Buck's face and hauling him in to press their lips together.
OR
Buck and Eddie make a bet on whether or not Eddie can guess all of Buck's lip balm flavours, and in order for Eddie to get a taste, they have to kiss.

Summary
Buck takes it to the grave.
He doesn’t mean to. It’s just—with all that time he spent teasing death, all the motorcycles and factory fires and blood-coated grenades—death gets impatient, in the end. Right as he’s starting to take life seriously. After he puts his name on the lease, buys life a ring, like, I’m in this for the long haul. Death gets jealous, and Buck falls through a second-story floor onto a derelict wrought-iron stair rail, and his femoral artery begins the quick but methodical work of leaking out the next fifty or sixty years of his life onto the charred tile floor.Bookmarked by bthomasx0

Summary
“They just follow it around, copying it and helping it and bothering it so much that it's like, worn down into loving the duckling back and looking out for it.”
“So,” said Eddie, furrowing his brow. “In this scenario, you are—”
“A baby duckling, newly hatched into the world with no idea what’s going on.”
“And I am—”
“The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes.”
----
Eddie has no idea how to cope when a temporary case of amnesia causes the return of Buck 1.0. Buck has no clue why his future self hasn't made the moves on his hot best friend. It all goes pretty well, considering.

Summary
His body battled a tsunami for Christopher, and it pulled Eddie to safety beneath a fire truck.
It was useful. And for Buck, it was only ever about the practical. His body was a tool for other people, just like when he was a kid - like when his parents took, and took, and took from him, like he was built for spare parts. Not a whole thing. He was born to save, and the truth of that is wired into his DNA. He’s been carrying the weight of his trauma since the moment he was born.
His body was never his. Not really.

Summary
“No one is expecting you to be the same after what happened. Maybe Bobby wanted you to take care of us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take care of you too.”
“Will you stay with me?”
“Yeah,” Eddie agrees immediately. He slides off the bed, turns off the lamp he must have turned on when he came in, and walks around to the other side. He lies on his back in the bed, close enough to the center for Buck to wordlessly move himself into Eddie’s side. Eddie lifts an arm to allow Buck to come closer. “Of course,” He says as he drops his arm to wrap around Buck’s shoulders, effectively making him rest his head on Eddie’s chest, “Always.”
Or, despite everyone escaping the lab alive, Buck can't stop reliving the worst case scenarios when he closes his eyes.

5+1 times Eddie showed Buck the love he deserves by kissing his freckles.

Summary
It’s not real. It’s not real. It can’t be.
He’s hallucinating. A concussion. Hell, maybe this is some sort of purgatory.
“Fuck,” he rasps, the word torn from him as a cough shakes his body. Copper floods his tongue. He blinks, disoriented, and Bobby’s still there, solid, impossibly so, haloed in dust.
“You’re not real,” Buck croaks.
“Maybe,” Bobby says with a small shrug, the ghost of a smile tugging at his lips. “Or maybe death sent me as a kindness.”
“You’re not real,” Buck insists again, the words cracking apart.
“I’m real enough,” Bobby murmurs. “Now breathe.”
Buck tries. It hurts, sharp, jagged, but the air finds its way into his lungs. He coughs, choking on dust and tears as the collapsing world bleeds back into sound. When he opens his eyes again, Bobby’s still there, steady, unshakable, holding the weight of Buck’s grief in his gaze. He nods downward.
“Put pressure on that before you bleed out, dumbass.”
or
When Buck gets trapped during an earthquake, he’s forced to confront the one thing he’s been running from — grief.

Summary
“I…I know I’m late,” Ramon starts, “and I understand if there’s no place for me. But I would really like to come to your wedding. If you’ll have me.”
Eddie stares at him. This is the outcome he’s been hoping for since the day his mother reluctantly confirmed that her RSVP for one wasn’t a mistake, but now that it’s happening, Eddie doesn’t know what to feel. Relief? Joy? Anger?
Shock overshadows everything else, leaving him mostly numb. “You’ve had months to decide,” Eddie says incredulously. “Why now? What changed your mind?”
Ramon reaches into his pocket and pulls out his phone. “Buck,” he says simply.

Summary
“You look… tired-tired,” Buck said, voice low and gentle, like he didn’t want to startle Eddie’s nerves.
Eddie huffed something that might’ve been a laugh. “Thank you for the clinical assessment, Evan.”
Buck’s thumbs traced slow, grounding circles against Eddie’s hips through his shirt. “Better?”
“Yeah,” Eddie admitted, voice rougher than he wanted. “A little.”
Buck leaned in and kissed him—soft, unhurried, a slow press that didn’t demand anything except that Eddie be here for it. Eddie kissed back immediately, because he could never not. Because Buck’s mouth always felt like permission to come home to himself.
When they pulled apart, Buck kept his forehead close, breathing the same air. “Shower?” Buck suggested.
Eddie’s shoulders dropped another inch. “Please.”Bookmarked by bthomasx0

Evan Buckley, a tragedy in 97 acts, that's what he was called, he believed it, sure. Just a former employee, right?

Summary
Eddie was sprawled back on the couch like he’d been built for it, one ankle crossed over the other, remote loose in his hand. The TV murmured on low volume—some mindless home-renovation show where a perky couple argued about backsplash tile like it was life or death. Eddie wasn’t really watching, not in the way he watched a game or a movie he cared about. This was background noise, a steady, harmless kind of chaos.

Summary
"I dare you."
Buck’s face went stony for a minute with shock. Chimney smiled widely at him, like he’d landed the winning punch, but really, he should have known better. There was a reason no one dared Buck to do things anymore.
A beat of silence, then, “Okay.”
Wait, what?
Before Chimney could even blink, Buck was moving past him and fully into the backyard. Okay?
“Wait, Buck-”
But Buck was on the move.
---------The extended 118 family is gathered for an afternoon barbecue when Chimney and Buck have an. . . interesting conversation. Topics include love, Maddie, Eddie, and a dare Chimney probably should've known not to make. It's one of the rules of being close friends with Evan Buckley: do not, under any circumstances, dare Buck to do anything.
