“You have too!” Jiang Cheng tried to raise his voice, but it came out weak and pathetic, so he tried again. “You can’t die here!”
“And you can?” Jiang Cheng was shocked to find that Lan Wangji sounded genuinely angry.

Summary
There was a reason Jiang Cheng had decided to leave Guanyin Temple without saying anything. There was a reason he hadn’t and never planned to invite Wei Wuxian to Lotus Pier. Why would he want to tie him down with more debts, drag him back to a place which he’d left behind with the past long ago?
So when Wei Wuxian acted like he wanted to stay, it turned everything upside-down.
OR

There was a small scrabbling sound under the stairs. Rats, most likely. Then the sound of metal clinking against metal, which was unusual – more likely to be the harbinger of a fierce corpse. Lan Zhan readied his sword.
It was not a fierce corpse, but a sadder kind of walking dead: the skinniest dog he’d ever seen crept out from under the stairs and looked at them, hunched over and crouched down in fear, tail tucked between its legs and up against its belly.
Lan Wangji and Jiang Wanyin search for Wei Wuxian, rescue a dog, and fall in love.
