“It’s not even late.”
He flipped a paper over in his hand and picked up the quill from the ink bottle next to him. “You should be getting up at sunrise, mate.”
“Well, I’m not an avian. You guys don’t know how to wake up later than five.”
“That shouldn’t have anything to do with it. Look at Tommy, he’s not an avian and he wakes up just fine.”
Tommy slightly slouched in his seat as he tapped his fingers on the table, scoffing.
“Whatever,” Wilbur said, looking down at the plate of food that was in front of him. He took note of the fact that there was way too much food there for him to eat by himself. “Birdman
shall not speak upon the struggles of the normal human, for he is not one.”“You know, you’re not even fully human, Will,” Tommy chimed in. “So you don’t have the say in it either.”
“You are, though.”
Tommy rolled his eyes and rested his elbow against the table, balancing his chin in his palm.

Lumine smiled as she gazed at the sky. “It is pretty. But, you look like a snowman. Which means you’ve been here too long.”
“I don’t mind,” he said as she started to wander around him, brushing off the snow that’d collected on him.
“You should,” Lumine huffed with a frown, suddenly appearing at his other shoulder with a furrowed brow. “It’s cold! You’re gonna get sick!”
Xiao tilted his head at her, and then chuckled as she fussed with his hair, knocking the snow free. “That just means a day off from work for me.”
Lumine snorted, shaking her head. “As if. You’re a workaholic. A little cold isn't gonna keep you at bay.”
“Then there’s no need to worry.”
Lumine glared at him, then sighed. “If you do get sick, remind me to give you some of my soup. I can and will go mama bird if you’re gonna get sick because of me.”
