Summary
"Almost two months after Alex left again, shipping off to god knows where, Michael jerked awake, a jolt punching through his heart. He gasped for breath, clutching his chest until the sensation faded into a low but persistent tug, like an invisible tether guiding him."
Michael discovers a new alien pod in the mines and realizes it holds his and Alex's unborn daughter. The Pod Squad learns that aliens are born out of love, which should be a good thing, right? It means Michael and Alex love each other. Except Alex is gone and Michael doesn't know if he's ever coming back. Until he does, four years after their daughter is born.
