    Fake engagement trope babyyyyyyyyy. Set during ME 2, Shepard and Garrus exploit a loophole in the Turian Hierarchy. It's just a technicality. They're just friends, of course.

    This started as a fluffy one-shot, but now we're going for a part fluff, part citadel DLC-style humor, part angst full story! Slight canon divergence at the beginning, which will only increase as we go on. Probably.

     

    “Actually, we can do this later,” Shepard gestured with the pad. “Want a drink?”

    He waved her off, “I should probably get back to—”

    “If you say calibrations, I’ll vent the battery.”

    “Well, I won’t say it then.”

    “Come on, don’t make me beg.” She turned around and started walking as if he’d already agreed, “have a drink with me.”

    “It’s actually been more threatening than begging.”

    “Oh, good. Then you’ll take it seriously.”

    Let's call this a novelization, told through the memories of two people who really, really miss each other. Canon compliant until it makes more sense not to be.
