Diluc first met Zhongli in the final year of his sojourn around Teyvat. When he decides it's time to return home to Mondstadt, he intends to make a clean cut in their companionship - but a goodbye is never so straightforward.
Almost two years later, Diluc is brought back to Liyue Harbor in his efforts to help Aether. He and Zhongli meet again, despite being so sure that they'd go the rest of their lives estranged, and attempt to recognize the relationship they've spent the better part of three years wanting.
