Instead, they hang, claw-like, in front of him. It'd be funny if Phainon had the upper hand. "Look me in the eye..."
Instead—in an obviously Pavlovian response—Phainon does.
"…And ask. One more time."
The song plummets into the bridge, petering out between them. Phainon inhales deeply, catalogues his crowded, eclectic dining/living room, at everything and everywhere except Mydei until he absolutely has to.
"Right…um. So. Mydei…" he nods, smiles, even, despite the dread. No point in backing down now.
"Do you want to make a sex tape?"
Phainon has a proposition. His feelings for Mydei are (definitely) not part of it.

“Phainon.” Mydei’s hand caught his wrist mid-spin. Or mid-trip.
Phainon stared ahead, expression blank before he caught himself, offering the other that same empty smile. “There you are.” His voice sounded hoarse. “Come dance with me.”
Mydei’s brows furrowed immediately.
“You need to rest.”
“What a dull response, your majesty.” Phainon tugged him closer anyway, one hand settling around Mydei’s waist as the music dragged on, uncaring. “Dance with me.”
Mydei’s hands hovered in the air for just a second, fingers twitching.
He relented, as he always did.

“Khaslana,” Mydei responds, his voice hesitant as his finger finally dips down to press over the injury Khaslana had previously been hiding.
Over the startling crack in his skin.
Oh.
Khaslana’s eyes widen, his arm shooting out to grip Mydei’s wrist. Mydei offers no protest, simply staring, frozen in shock.
“You’re…breaking,” Mydei mutters, so quietly.
Khaslana screws his eyes shut.
“You weren’t supposed to see.”
Or: Khaslana trudges through millions of cycles, stealing Coreflames and losing himself all while he clings to the memories from his original Flame-Chase Journey, and of his original Mydeimos.

Summary
“Glad to see you back among the living,” Phainon says through a yawn, clearly having spent the night in the uncomfortable chair in the infirmary by Mydei’s side. Like he often does.
Mydei’s head hurts. Just the regular kind of pain, easily managed by ignoring it until it goes away. But what makes it worse, is the confusion at his predicament. The memories returning to him in death used to vary in time and people who appeared in them. Why is it always Phainon nowadays?
“Fuck you,” Mydei says, hoarsely. He feels like he is losing his mind.
Phainon’s mouth locks mid-yawn and he blinks down at him stupidly, tilting his head with confusion. It’s probably fair, he hasn’t even done anything to earn Mydei’s ire as of late.
or; Human brain lives for a few more minutes after dying, replaying the most cherished memories. Mydei starts seeing Phainon after each of his deaths.
