A college professor – an older man with greying hair - putting his hand on Guy’s shoulder and praising him on his last paper, promising him a bright future ahead if he keeps this up.
A woman with white hair and intense eyes, gently molding him and manipulating him into joining the Talamasca, telling him he’s very, very special.
And then, tucked neatly into that little row of memories is the feeling of Jasper gently pushing his hair back. Jasper’s hand on his face as he disinfects his head wound. Jasper feeding him breakfast and laying out new clothes. Jasper taking care of him in all these little ways.
