Summary
in which college maths professor Shiro takes a break from teaching after an accident that almost lost him an arm, but in order to keep himself occupied accepts to supervise the maths class for the local community college. He doesn’t expect to find in between his new students Keith, one of the uni’s janitors (incidentally, the one he might have been crushing on for a while, to his TA’s amusement). Then it turns out the guy isn’t just good at maths - he’s actually beyond gifted. Shiro might be over in his head here.

The Hanahaki Disease is an illness born from one-sided love, where the patient coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. The infection can be removed through surgery, but the feelings disappear along with the petals.
Shiro loves Keith so much it hurts. Keith might not love him back, and that's okay, except that it's going to kill him.

The thing about Keith is that he fell in love with his best friend a long time ago. Somewhere in between late nights and long days and the easy crawl of the years, he fell in love with him. And the thing about Keith is that he can't find it in himself to tell said best friend, and just ask him out on a date.
But he will make sure that Shiro eats dinner, and gets out of his room, and goes to the night market with Keith where they'll try food as the stars shine above them and firelight glows in the night...but that's not a date.
(It's totally a date.)
