Summary
Evelyn O'Hara knew Bucky Barnes in the 30s. Dare I say it...she was in love with him. He was a player, but he was sweet, kind, understanding, a gentleman. She loved him, even though it might have been childish or one-sided. She was content with being his friend. She knew he would never be the type to settle down, not until he had seen the world and saved as many people as he could.
Then World War II came and Bucky enlisted. She gave him a locket to remember her by. While he was at war, she died tragically.
Years later, after the events of Endgame, Bucky sees her on the streets. Young, alive, smiling. And he wonders...could he have what they lost again? Would she be the same? Should he take the risk?
Note to the readers: Reader is NAMED in this fic because I dislike writing with Y/N and I need a name to work with, so I wrote it with the idea in mind that reader's would just insert themselves into the character despite her being named. I realize it's not a traditional reader-insert, so I hope this is okay!
