for as long as he could remember, it was easy to be perfect. he never made trouble for his parents, never caused a ruckus in class. he got along with other kids, always quiet with a cheerful atmosphere that made him an acquaintance to everyone. he brought home report cards that were perfect all the way down, and even had “a pleasure to have in class!” written in the loopy script of his teachers.

So this inconclusiveness doesn’t matter, and Mukai isn’t entitled to knowing why she had lashed out at him in that empty classroom, nor why she’d stopped him to ask that out-of-character question. It turns out that he doesn’t know everything about the high school social hierarchy, much less about Egashira.
Mukai Tsukasa goes into his second year knowing less about Egashira Mika than he had before. It doesn't matter though, not in the grand scheme of things, not really.

She kept waiting and waiting but that time wasn't just going to come to her out of thin air. Now, here she is driving through the dead of night looking for the light. It was the worst possible time she could have chosen but if she didn't do this then it would've kept her up at night. There was no way she would've been satisfied with a phone call because who knows how Willow would've taken that.
She wanted to be something more to her. Something more than friends. A simple, "I love you", wouldn't have cut it because who didn't love their friends? They said, "I love you", to each other all the time and that would've just been another one of those times. Saying that you wanted to be more than friends was terrifying and it was something that Luz wasn't ready for yet.
But who's to say she was ready for this either?

After the camera crew and interviewer bids them goodbye, Satori takes them back to his apartment.
“Why do you feel bad?” Wakatoshi’s hand settles against Satori’s thigh. Jesus. Fucking. Christ. “You have many friends, Satori. To you, our friendship is likely not as important. To me, you were the first person who wanted to know me, save for, perhaps, Sakusa. You made me feel …” He seems to struggle with his words for a moment, before he dips his head a little. Satori marvels at the clear sign of embarrassment. “You made me feel less weird. I never had many friends, and I still don’t. You were my first best friend.”
Suffice to say, Satori is speechless.
