Summary
Marlene McKinnon was once told that ‘help will always be given at Hogwarts'. She had gone to her former headmaster, paranoia keeping an iron-clad grip on her as her hunt for a traitor progressed.
Two weeks later she was killed amongst her family. She died choking on a friend’s betrayal.
Dorcas Meadowes had the same words spoken to her a few years prior. Albus Dumbledore had looked her in the eyes and told her not to worry, that her friends would be given the help they needed.
She was killed fighting opposite those same friends, the ones who she had grown up with. She still lost them in the end.
Lily Evans heard that phrase as well. She’d held her child close to her chest and clung to her husband’s hand as she put all her trust in a man who promised they’d be safe.
She was killed protecting her child with her husband dead at the front door. She’d collapsed to her knees and screamed her lungs raw.
Mary Macdonald was told twice that ‘help would always be given at Hogwarts’. She was the only one to have lived.

Summary
Lily realizes one thing the 31st October of 1981: Dumbledore can't protect them. She decides she can't get rid of Voldemort herself and needs her friends, all of them, to be united against the common enemy. For that, she digs in her power as a Dark Witch and rewinds time with James at her side.
Now that they've defeated Voldemort, Lily can rest and watches her son go through Hogwarts peacefully, like he was meant to be. Except he wasn't meant to do that, and now he's in Slytherin, he has a crush on a blonde boy who is the absolute worst, and Voldemort might not be that defeated after all.

She’d been doing it since she was thirteen - probably way too young to go out to strangers’ parties or gigs, with the naive hope of bumping into some big-time producer who would launch her to stardom. By fourteen, she knew all the bars around Hollywood - the ones that would serve her without a second glance, the ones with bouncers that would let her in. She knew most of the producers and managers that were around. She knew all the up-and-coming bands, the ones which people thought had a chance of making it, the ones which people thought certainly didn’t. At fifteen, she had tried almost every drug under the sun - meth and heroin being the only two that she considered off-limits. At sixteen, she still had the same dream when walking into a bar that she would meet a producer willing to give her a real chance, but she had it in a much more sophisticated, and much less naive way than when she was thirteen - with eyeliner.

Dorcas Meadows has always envied Marlene McKinnon a little bit too much. She is the best chaser on Gryffindor's quidditch team, has a funky record player that Remus gave her that she plays Blondie on, and all of their professors adore her. She has stupid blonde hair that always falls loose in class while Dorcas is sitting behind her, and a smile that lights up every room. Worst of all, Marlene McKinnon is the nicest person Dorcas has ever met.
Marlene McKinnon has always looked at Dorcas Meadows a little bit too long. She has a large stack of books beside her bedside table, a chunky maroon sweater she's had since first year, and she always flicks Mary in the forehead when she talks about her latest date for too long. She has pointy white canines that always catch Marlene's eyes when she grins after a prank and freckles along her dark cheeks if you look close enough. Dorcas Meadows is the most enamouring person Marlene has ever met.
