Summary
"Is Will your boyfriend?" Holly asks, and Mike immediately chokes on the lettuce in his mouth.
"Wh- what?" he gasps, dropping his fork and swallowing back the salad that suddenly feels like cement in his throat. Holly's looking at him with a strange expression, like she's trying to figure something out.
"Will. Is he your boyfriend?" she repeats, even though Mike very obviously heard her, and the question doesn't feel any less shocking the second time.
"No!" He yelps. "No, why would you think that?"
Holly shrugs, taking another bite of spaghetti like this is a normal conversation and she is not slowly killing him. "Nancy calls him your little boyfriend sometimes, and Mom says he's your person, which basically means the same thing, and you live together and act like a couple and unpack groceries together, and- I don't know. Seems like it could be a thing."

As a child, the most terrifying thing Steve could possibly fathom was falling from a great height. Airplanes, buildings, space—most kids were afraid of spiders or the dark—but Steve feared seeing the end coming, hurtling towards the ground at machspeed, because unlike the characters in the Saturday morning cartoons he watched, he knew he wasn't going to squish down like an accordion and spring back up all creased and folded. No—he knew what would happen, and for the longest of time he refused to even climb up onto a ladder.
Now, as a young adult, the most terrifying thing he could think of was Jonathan Byers when he was angry.

Steve sort of feels like maybe he spent his whole life mourning what his father was and now that he’s dead, maybe it’ll be like Jonathan said. Maybe he’ll need to mourn everything he wasn’t.

Summary
“Soooo…” She draws the o out as she tilts her head and rests it on her hand, leaning over the bar counter. “You know Steve, then. Steve Harrington.”
Jonathan hesitates. He could lie. It might even be easy. A simple Steve? Steve, who? would probably be enough to dismiss the idea all together since there’s something about the question that makes Jonathan believe she’s suspicious about the connection in the first place. So he’s not exactly sure why that when he opens his mouth next what comes out is,
“I… I do, yeah.”
