Summary

“I did, though.” Huaisang says, and Jiang Cheng looks at him. He sets down his plate and looks back at him. “I did sign up for this, A-Cheng. You asked me to sing your songs, and I did. You asked me to go on stage, and I did. You asked me to join you on tour, and I did. You asked me every step of the way. I said yes every time.”
Then: Jiang Cheng was trying to find himself after his band took an unexpected break. Nie Huaisang was trying to prove he could be independent doing his art. They were roommates.

“He doesn’t have any friends, does he?” he asked. “We have … each other, even if Young Mistress is all annoying about it and Zizhen spends half his time being forced to run sect errands for his dad. Sect Leader Jiang has Jin Ling, and his brother, and senior Wei has Hanguang-Jun … but Sect Leader Nie …”
The two of them fell into a rather depressed silence.
“Why is everyone in our parents’ generation so sad?” Jingyi sighed. “This won’t do. Sizhui, help me make Sect Leader Nie our friend.”

Summary
When faced with an upcoming family vacation, Jiang Cheng invites Nie Huaisang, an old friend from summer camp who he hasn't properly spoken to in years, along as his pretend boyfriend. It's supposed to be a win-win situation: Jiang Cheng gets someone there who will have his back amidst family members and in-laws who have made their disdain clear and gets his parents off his back about his lack of love life, and Huaisang gets a week away from the city, his brother's knife company, and the reminder that his brother is in jail for a violent crime. Neither of them expect to catch feelings, but a lot can change over the course of a week at the Jiang family lake house.
