Tomorrow he’ll get up and play the role of the fierce protector, falling into the role easily. He’ll check up on the Byers, drive each of the kids back and forth between the hospital and each of their respective homes, he knows that at some point he’ll have to actually talk to Nancy; decide where they stand minus the we saved the world again stress into it. Maybe he’ll congratulate her and Johnathan on their new relationship.
Tonight, tonight he hopes that his face will start to hurt a little less with each passing minute, that his thoughts will quiet down a little and try to sleep without nightmares plaguing his mind.

The letter looked too fancy to be sitting in an eleven years old stack of gifts. The paper of it looked old and worn, and a strange symbol printed into the wax melt that was holding the letter inside secured.
But his name was notably plastered on the front of it, the loopy cursive of it stared back at him as he turned back to his mother, his curiosity was piqued now and he wondered what the envelope contained.
She would deny it still to this day, but Karl swears that when she turned around, her face paled slightly when she peeked at the envelope in his hand.
He almost passed it to her before he caught a glimpse and saw another name scrawled on the other side of it.
Retracting his hand, he flipped the envelope over and was equally even more stunned when he saw ‘Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’ Scribbled on the front.

“Dementors.” He whispers, His gaze turning to the two of them, “They’re employed as guards for Azkaban.”
“What business would they have being here then?” Sapnap mutters.
“Sirius Black.”
The three of them whip their heads to where Quackity was still huddled in the corner, his back pushed against the wall as he turned his stare up towards them.
“The missing prisoner?” Karl questions. They had read the articles just hours before about the Azkaban breakout, Serial killer Sirius Black being the first to ever escape like that and manage to survive.
“Makes sense, doesn't it? Azkaban guards searching for a missing convict.” A new voice pitches in and Karl is suddenly very aware of Dream’s face looking entirely too pale as he watches him in the dim light

The endearment makes Steve’s chest feel raw.
