They reach for their drinks in sync, and Tooru tips his glass to his oncoming emotional apocalypse in one last sardonic acknowledgement of his terrible life before they both take a long pull of their drinks because oh yes, he’s fucked. He has feelings for Iwaizumi Hajime, who probably has casual lovers just like him in every major city he visits on business. Oikawa is just his Tokyo Boy, just another pit-stop on Iwaizumi’s travels.

“I’m saying—I love you so much Tooru, I—”
The doorbell interrupts him mid-sentence and Oikawa whips his head in the direction of the offending sound.
Someone should tell Oikawa that this is only the first of a series of unfortunate events.

Summary
Moonlight settles across the high points of his face, drapes itself along his shoulders, and kisses the slope of his nose. Despite the darkness, Iwaizumi is able to see all of him so vividly. The length of his lashes and the fullness of his lips, the slight curl of his hair where it sticks to his cheeks. A little bit of starlight is trapped within his irises and part of him wants to take a closer look at it.
It’s not until Oikawa’s eyes find his own that he feels a strange tingle somewhere in his chest, as though he’d been caught looking at something he shouldn’t.
or: after experiencing some hardships, iwaizumi and oikawa spend some time at a lake house.
