Summary
Though Alhaitham’s instinctive reaction was to push this inexplicably older version of Kaveh away and demand an explanation, something about the desperation in his grip held him hostage. He could feel the rapid rise and fall of Kaveh’s chest against his own, the quivers in his body from the leftover adrenaline of travelling through what had to be some sort of time portal.
He was still trying to make sense of the situation, pulse roaring in his ears, when Kaveh’s fingers began to shift, sliding down the length of his arm until he reached Alhaitham’s left hand.
Kaveh traced along the veins there, pausing - as if searching for something that wasn’t where it should be. Then his posture fell, softening with melancholy. “Oh,” he murmured, almost to himself. “I’m not back yet.”
Alhaitham stiffened. “What?”
“You’re not my Alhaitham,” Kaveh said with a quiet, somber sigh that wavered faintly at the end.

Summary
Five times Kaveh insisted Alhaitham had no heart (citing such evidence as socks, red pen crimes, debate misconduct, wine-induced philosophizing, and illegal bookshelf relocation), and the one time he was forced to admit—horrifyingly—that the man had been feeling things the entire time.

Summary
“Well? Are you heading out there to study ancient runes again? Candace mentioned there’s been an influx of primal constructs near Aaru Village recently, so try to come back in one piece, will you?”
“Jumping to conclusions as always.” Alhaitham rolls his eyes. “You’re not entirely wrong, actually. Are you ready to go? I went ahead and made the necessary preparations.”
Kaveh’s brain short circuits. “What?” He asks.
“I just so happened to have a couple of vacation days saved up. Fontaine has an extensive literature catalog, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to take a trip.”
What. “I don’t— What are you talking about?”

Or, Kaveh and Alhaitham go to Fontaine.

Summary
“Apologies for asking this of you, but I need you to listen to me very closely, Amber. Can you do that?”
Amber nods diligently, leaning forward on her knees.
“I would normally do this myself, but admittedly, I am barely holding onto consciousness right now.” Kaeya groans as he props himself up on the rock, trying his best to stay upright. “I need you to stitch up my wound.”

Summary
“You do realize this is unnecessary, right?” Kaveh asks with a tired sigh.
From where he’s sitting across from him on the floor, Alhaitham levels him with an unimpressed look. In his hand lies Kaveh’s wrist, limp and aching as Alhaitham rubs the anti-inflammatory gel over the swollen area.
“If it bothers you so much, you’re free to leave,” he says.
