Chapter 29 - after Katara has been attacked at the brothel she is back visiting Zuko and iron and has told them about it. Her and zuko are about to be interrupted while having a moment. -

Marco sees the guy lying next to a makeshift raft on an island too small for a log pose to even pick up. He slows down, circling the man from above, trying not to feel like a vulture, when he startles because he recognizes him.
He lands a ways away from the unconscious Portgas D. Ace and calls Pops.
“Remember when we lost track of Fire Fist at Sabaody? Apparently he made it to the New World, but too soon. Looks like he lost his crew and ship; he definitely needs help, yoi.”
A laugh, jolly and bright; the den den mimics Whitebeard almost perfectly, except for the mustache it cannot completely correctly imitate. “Looks like you’re getting a new brother!”
Or, Portgas D. Ace meets another Emperor before the Whitebeard Pirates find him.

Chapter 12 ace realises things with big mom are wrong but he is trapped
Ch 14 Marco is concerned about aces strange behaviour and why he won’t say where he has been. In the past, after big mom first hurt ace, the spade pirates tried to escape but she killed them all.
Chapter 15 ace is trying to get white beards mark and Marco is trying to figure out where ace was before joining them
Chapter 18 ace is getting the white beard tattoo. He remembers the first months with big mom.
Chapter 20 ace has his tattoo in the flashbacks big mom leaves to deal with emperor duties. -
