Summary
Macaque feels small under the intensity of his gaze. Never had he before heard of a god-like creature devoting himself to such a lesser being. Scum, some would say. A pathetic excuse of a demon. Yet here he was, on the receiving end of that god’s affection, who was waiting to give him whatever it was he desired, so long as he was the one to speak it so. This—this is so much more than trust. This is power. And it is all his.
Or: the one where i hit wukong with the pussybeam because i had a thought at 3 in the morning and it would not leave me alone.

Oh, Woe Is the King (of Losing Board Games) by Moobloom_Mention

Summary
Between grit teeth and pitch black walls he'd sworn that Wukong would one day know what it'd been like to have his world torn from him. To feel the seething bite of rage and heartbreak collide in some twisted mockery of a tale.
Macaque just didn't think his revenge would end up like this. Unplanned and strangely reminiscent of a fonder life.
Because even after several millennia of living, Wukong is just as shit at board games as Macaque remembers him to be.
And as he places his final Scrabble tile onto the board, the king's face twisting into one of unadulterated rage, he grins beneath the realization that Wukong's also still the worst loser in all three Realms.
Macaque decides to take up MK's offer of a "game night" with the gang, only to discover that after millenia of living, Wukong is still terrible at board games and even worse at losing.

Summary
Wukong had never known himself to be the brightest lantern set before an altar.
But there was always one thing he found himself able to recall even centuries after he'd lost the need for it; a piece of information he could stake his life on knowing without understanding exactly how. It had always just...been there, like a ribbon that'd wound itself tightly about his index finger at birth and refused to leave despite his desperate attempts to get rid of it.
Because why would the Great Sage, Equal to the Heavens themselves, ever need to recall Macaque's whereabouts?
And why would he only ever be able to locate the shadow during moments of intoxication?
Drinking and partying has always been one of Wukong's favorite pastimes. After all, it's way easier to nurse a bruised ego when you're seeking the remedy at the bottom of a bottle. It's not his fault said remedy always leads him back to Macaque.

Summary
Macaque doesn't do anything but yawn. “Oh, ‘s just you.”
“You're in my spot.”
He arches an eyebrow, then makes a show of looking around, as if he's searching for a sign or label of some sort. “I don’t see your name on it.”
“It’s my island,” Wukong retorts. “Everywhere is my spot. Move.”
5 times Wukong wakes up alone, and 1 time that he doesn't.

Summary
Macaque, almost absent-mindedly, raises Wukong’s hand to his mouth and presses a kiss to his knuckles. He glances over and wrinkles his nose when he sees Wukong grinning at him like a lunatic, looking annoyed. “Shut up.”
“I didn’t say anything!” Wukong protests, still unable to contain his giddy smile.
“You were thinking,” shoots back Macaque, rolling over and turning his head away so Wukong can’t see his face anymore.

Macaque laughs, and the sound of it is foreign and familiar all at once, like a melody sung out of tune. He concedes, “Probably not.”

Summary
Macaque punctuates his next sentence with an exasperated hand gesture, his nose scrunching as he laughs, pressing a hand to his mouth to muffle a giggle. He makes eye contact with Wukong for just a second before his gaze flits away as he continues to speak, but that second is enough to very suddenly and unexpectedly strike something through Wukong’s heart, a completely foreign urge he’s never had before and didn’t think he ever would.
I want to kiss him.
Wukong realizes he wants to kiss his best friend.

Summary
Things were weird. They didn't talk about it.
Macaque was coming by again. The first time had been at night, so soon after they'd both been freed that the ground around them was still littered with jagged ice stalagmites, now inert. They were already melting. They would be gone on their own eventually.
Wukong watched him pummel one into slush.
After a minute, he wordlessly stepped out and helped crush them to puddles with their bare hands. The extent of her influence left the two of them working for the better part of an hour before they could no longer see any on the horizon. Their work done, Macaque had slunk back into the shadows. But he came back. Again, at night. He kept to the trees, nosing into his scarf and whiling the night away reclined and stealing whatever fruit grew at hand. He didn't sleep. Wukong would have been a hypocrite to bring it up. He was gone again come morning, always seeming to slip away when Wukong had his eyes off him.
Night five of that, and Wukong left the shack door ajar.
Night seven, and Macaque came inside.

The Broken Pleas of a Familiar Face (And an Exhausted Shadow) by Moobloom_Mention

Summary
"Stay."
It's a simple plea, a rare one that drips sorrowful and foreign from his tongue.
Long buried is his pride, forgotten amidst his selfless demand that the Great Sage return to his own domain. To gift mercy to the little monkeys of Flower Fruit Mountain who long terribly for the mischievous ways of their king. It is their demand to the endless patience and caring tendencies of someone Macaque can't bring himself to imitate.
He is a warrior, and nothing if not a dull shadow of the Great Sage Equal to Heaven.
"I can't."
The Great Sage finds himself a moment of reprieve from his Journey to the West and decides to visit Flower Fruit Mountain for the first time in centuries. Unfortunately, it is not joyous cheers and festivities that greet him, but his own shadow's tired eyes and lashing tongue.
