When those words leave the doctor’s mouth, Dream is staring down into his palms, expressionless. He isn’t quite sure what it means for him yet.
When it comes to his best friend, George, Dream can’t seem to spill the information from his lips. How do you tell your best friend you’re secretly in love with that you’re dying? So he keeps shut.
Dream has longed for George his entire life. It isn’t unfamiliar to him – unrequited love. He just isn’t sure if George longs for him, too. The next few weeks for Dream go by in a blur of rumpled bed sheets, crisp autumn leaves, salty teardrops and concealed, twinging, perpetual feelings.
Dream thinks the hardest part of dying would have to be leaving George behind.
