Summary
Zayne is whispered about in the shadows. His domain lies in the ice and snow buried beyond Horizon's Veil. A settlement, called Tetra's Reach lies just across the ice and snow fields, glacial plains that separate the living from the myths. It is here that Kestrel (MC) has been sent, she was collected by her uncle after the death of her mother in the capital and brought to her snowy inheritance. She was taken away from the one person she had cared about in the palace, her brother Xavier. Xavier has always been better than her, but he looked out for and protected her. It is not until late one snowy, stormy, evening when Xavier is struck by a shard and begins to become a frozen, meaner version of himself that things begin to change. Late one evening, The Snow King comes to claim Xavier, as he does with all shard touched beings. Kestrel comes upon them too late, only able to watch her brother leave. This changes everything as she follows them determined to rescue Xavier.
