And, perhaps, there’s never been a moment in his life where he’s felt so utterly overwhelmed and, more importantly, so utterly confused.
Because Bakugou Katsuki is laughing, clutching his belly and squinting his eyes, a sound so beautiful that it could rival the rest of him. Perhaps it’s the way that his hair falls in his face, how his gums reveal the true nature of his smile or just how happiness looks different but incredibly good on him.
But a perfect picture is never meant to last and of course the thing that sticks with him is nowhere near as pretty as the boy before him. No, it’s the fact that Izuku didn't fall for the pretty brunette girl in his class, but the brute, loud and bold rugby player who is most definitely not a girl.

Izuku was known for being a hero on the big screen, on a clear pathway to become the man that was once his biggest idol. Izuku reached for the stars all those years ago when Katsuki was applying for college, and he brought them all down here with him. And in the process, he left Katsuki with a darkened sky.

But, as per usual, even that turns into a competition.
What starts out as a mindless bet as to who can impersonate the other better, ends in a tangled mess of emotions, insecurities and anger.

Neither of them had expected that they would end up seeing a lot more of each other when Katsuki tries to teach Izuku to cook and they most definitely hadn't expected to bond over it.

Katsuki and Izuku try to understand the appeal of alcohol, considering its bad reputation in the taste field and the horrible nausea caused by it. Thinking they have nothing to lose anyway since everything they consume tastes like shit, they try it.
That's how the two of them find themselves stupid drunk on Katsuki's bed drawing each other since they can't really just look into the mirror and find out.

The stories he grew up on are the same stories he's doomed to tell now. Of supernatural entities and learned helplessness.
No, the story he can never tell is one he's never seen or read before. One that could never have a happy ending.

Four boys playing a tabletop role-playing game in a basement. Loud, chaotic, wild. There is a distinct air of youth surrounding them. They are untouched by trauma and unharmed by life.

Summary
"I just need you to know," Will says quietly, and he makes himself hold Mike's gaze, "that if something happens - if I hurt you, or anyone else - it's not because I wanted to. I would never want to hurt you, Mike. Never."
The words hang between them, loaded with more meaning than Will intended.
There's a pause where all Will can hear is their breathing echoing against the storage closet's walls. The hum is more distant now, buzzing in the back of Will's mind, but the uneven inhales coming from in front of him sound louder. The breath tickling his nose (because they really are that close) feels realer.
Mike's eyes are still darting across Will's face, and Will can feel him inhale sharply. "Will, why are you so convinced you're going to hurt someone? What did Vecna show you?"
Everything, Will thinks. He showed me everything. Showed me killing you over and over until I couldn't see anything else.
Somewhere between slaying interdimensional eldritch horrors, exploding an entire dimension, and risking their lives countless times, Mike and Will find each other.

Summary
Will picks up the book, gently, like he’s afraid of bending the spine. “This is the second one.” Will’s eyes light up as he says it. “I didn’t know it was out already.”
“You-, you’ve read the first one?” Mike stutters out, still standing frozen by the dining table.
Will laughs softly. His eyes move from the book to Mike’s face. Mike feels exposed in a way he hasn’t in a long time. “Read it? I loved it, Mike. It’s one of my favorite books ever. I’ve read it, like, three times.”
Mike secretly publishes a story about courage, monsters, and a boy he loves. He panics when he realizes Will might recognize himself in the pages.
