Summary
The crew parted like the True sea when they arrived, nobody wanting to be the head that obstructed the first mate’s view. But Jesper wasn’t looking at their captain when they managed to shove their way to the front of the crowd. His eyes had instantly trained on the figure standing next to him, a stranger that stood out like a flower amongst poison ivy.
***
A new crewmember has arrived on their ship, but Jesper fails to see what The Slat can do with a prim merchling from Ketterdam. He can't even avoid the kid, not when Kaz keeps insisting they work together (the Captain can be fairly convincing, especially when he gets his cane out).
Jesper can't stand Wylan. No amount of stupidly soft doe-eyes will change that.
(OR: If you're looking for an enemies-to-lovers Pirate AU with loads of tension and mysterious pasts, then welcome aboard)

Summary
After years of feeling different, of feeling alone, of feeling like a failure, Jesper finally has a reason. It came in the form of a medical diagnosis, confirming what teachers had whispered about him for years. Now, all he had to do was ask the University for the help he needed. Simple enough, right?
Wylan splits his time evenly between his chemistry degree and his work at Ketterdam University's Disablity Support Office. The job doesn't pay much, and sometimes the work is mind-numbingly dull, but he gets to give people the help they need and deserve. The help he'd always wanted growing up.

Summary
To Captain Kaz ‘Dirtyhands’ Brekker, his first mate The Wraith and his sharp-shooter Jesper Fahey, their ship was the closest thing they had to a home. It was fondly named ‘The Barrel’ thanks to it’s ragged state when they first stole it (the joke being that it managed to keep them afloat, and not much more). The trio and their loyal, rugged crew traversed the southern realms of the True Sea, picking off trade ships and slavers as they went.
Kaz Brekker wants more, his sights set on bigger prizes and enough wealth to own (and burn) an entire fleet of ships. Inej simply wants Kaz, her family, and some semblance of a home that doesn’t need to float. Jesper has no idea what he wants, until they capture a Kerch Merchant ship, and he meets a boy just as lost as he is.

Summary
Jesper was halfway through a plate of shrimp when he realised the wedding he’d crashed was actually a funeral. Well, a wake, he supposed. Oblivious as he was, it took three different middle aged women dabbing at their eyes and sniffling while wearing all black for him to clock that perhaps, just maybe, the party he’d slipped into wasn’t a cheery affair. He froze, one shrimp in his hand suspended halfway to his mouth, a fancy porcelain plate piled precariously with food and balanced in his other. Who the hell held a wake at the Geldrenner?
OR: Jesper accidentally crashes Jan Van Eck's funeral and meets Wylan, the now insanely rich heir intent on destroying his father's legacy (and company).

Summary
Wylan couldn't read. He couldn't write. He could draw, and play the flute, and create chemical reactions that would blow holes in the strongest walls. He could see the dead, where their souls still lingered, clinging on to the world of the living. It was another defect, another madness his father had despaired of, had tried to force out of him.
The Crows all have their ghosts, though their forms change and grow and exist in different ways. This is how Wylan sees them.
(Or: I don't care that there's a heatwave, I want it to be Halloween already)
