Aerion had seen enough of him already to know the knight carried things in him and around him with the stubbornness of a pack mule. He did not ask much, it seemed. He endured, and he answered, and he went where he was told. A man like that might prove surprisingly stubborn when taken apart.

He leaned in just enough for Duncan to feel his breath against his skin. “Did you forget Duncan? A dragon ought never lose.”
