“What?” Roy asks. He looks confused in a way Jamie’s never seen him before.
“I’m intruding,” Jamie says gently, the same tone that he used to use to explain to his cousins why his dad was passed out snoring in the corner before Christmas dinner had even been served.
“No you’re fucking not,” Roy says instantly, circling his fingers around Jamie’s wrist so hard it hurts. “How can you be fucking intruding? I fucking invited you.”
Jamie’s head swims with all the f-bombs in that sentence. You’d think he’d be used to it by now.

“There’s a lot coming up,” Roy says, instead of all that. “With the manager position, and shit. I need some time to think about,” he gestures vaguely between them, “this.”
Jamie nods, slowly, lips pursed together. “Alright,” he says again.
Roy really hates that fucking word.
“You ought to take a trip or something, Coach,” Jamie says, flopping back down onto the pillows, making no move to leave Roy’s bed despite the whole needing space thing. “Take a holiday before the season starts. Get your head on straight.”
That - isn’t the worst idea Jamie’s ever had, really.

I know I ask a lot, but he’s capable of being fucking brilliant. He can jog halfway through the night and cycle the rest and still look like he could do a commercial for those stupid fucking shoes they all wear, and at some point it’s not fucking up to me anymore, it has to be about him pushing his own fucking self. I don’t know how to fucking motivate him!’
For a second, Roy thinks Keeley’s going to point out that his swearing gets even worse when he’s upset about something, which he can’t fucking help and it doesn’t fucking matter anyway. Then …

Summary
When Keeley breaks up with Roy after his spontaneous plans to whisk her away to Marbella for the summer, he makes the trip by himself, intent on forgetting about the break up as best he can through as much booze, tapas, and sunshine as one person can manage during one miserable summer. The last thing he expects is for his car to break down during a road trip up the Spanish coast, where he finds none other than Jamie fucking Tartt - who fell off the face of the Earth after his stint on Lust Conquers All - working in a seaside bar.
Post-season 2 AU where, after getting kicked off of Lust Conquers All, Jamie decides not to return to England or football.
