AU of "medication (and the way your eyes look into me)" where Gerard is fired from their nursing job after being caught with Frank, so they get back together with Bert McCracken.
Gerard knew their marriage with Bert wasn't perfect, hell, it was barely tolerable. The constant bickering, name-calling, and Bert reminding them of their past weren't ideal, but Gerard learned to live with it since Bert was all they had after losing their job at the nursing home, after losing Frank. But things worsen when Gerard accompanies Bert to his annual family reunion, and Gerard soon learns what their husband is truly capable of.

There was something about the way Gerard looked, moved, and sang tonight that caught Frank off guard – and he couldn’t figure out why. Maybe it was the alcohol, weed, and adrenaline, but those were always present at the other shows they played, so he couldn’t exactly blame it on that. Also, Gerard’s jacket was far too small on them and for some reason, Frank couldn’t stop staring.

It was clear that Gerard was never going to be detoxed from Frank’s system – he knew that. Especially with how Gerard was at the show tonight, and the character they chose to play for this tour.
A bratty, rebellious frontman that needed to be tamed and put in their place? Good lord, Frank never stood a chance. He almost hated how he fell right into Gerard’s trap of needing every person in the vicinity to want to fuck them. Frank was so tired of Gerard’s curated decisions and perfectly planned actions that always resulted in them having everyone under their spell.
That’s what was so magical about that slap, for a brief moment, it seemed like Gerard was caught off guard. Shaken up. Slightly defenseless.
And based on their reaction, Gerard liked it.
