DESPAIR.Full-length mutual killing AU with a cast of 16 original characters based on my high school friends. Featuring delightfully complicated murders, disorienting plot twists, a bunch of Homestuck references for some reason, and despair, despair, despair! Also hope, I guess. We did throw a bit of that in.
This story was originally written in 2014 and was re:worked in 2024. Changes are extremely minor (it was basically a sensitivity edit). The "slightly cringey high-schooler" vibe has been intentionally preserved.

Summary
Some time after the happenings of the School Life of Mutual Killing, sixteen graduates of Hope's Peak are called by the Future Foundation under the pretense of appointing them to help restore the world. Akane Ogata, ex-Super High School Level Chemist, along with other fifteen, are locked into an underground shelter, under the ruling of the loathed Monobear and the threat of eventually starving to death if they don't kill somebody and don't get caught.
The group tries to find anything that may point who exactly attracted them to the shelter and the reasons for it, while they try to avoid being killed by somebody else.
