“Where have you been, young man? We need to talk.”
Alastor turned his head so he didn't have to meet her mother's gaze and crossed his arms, automatically defensive. She crouched down to his level, resting one knee on the floor, and studied him intently.
“Where were you?” she asked again. She ran her fingers lightly over his sore cheek, leaving a tingling sensation on his skin even without actually touching him, before brushing his hair away from his face.
Alastor realised that what his mother was feeling was concern for him. She was worried.
