There was nothing left to do but run. Things at home worsened; you regretted living with Derrick since you moved in. You knew he was violent, physically and emotionally, but you didn't think it'd get this evil.
The type of evil where you had to keep a chair under your doorknob every time he came home drunk and ready for a fight, but he could be sweet, loving. It's what made you stay... but using love as an excuse would only continue to do more harm than good.
After you fled to Roseville, things were looking up. You found a job, settled, and even adopted a little kitty to keep you company. Life felt great until you started paying attention to the headlines.
To him, you were just any helpless lowlife victim-a pretty little monarch trapped in a black widow's web. However, things changed when you showed up at the gazette, doe-eyed and eager to speak with the infamous writer of the Ghostface headlines.

“You ever gonna tell me what happened to you?” Daryl asked in a rush, as if he had been hesitating to ask. He looked at you, finishing his mouthful, expecting an answer.
You looked at your plate.
“Because what happened back at Terminus… I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know how to help you. I wanted to—”
“I don’t want to talk about it,” you said, interrupting him, and you looked at him. “I don’t want to talk about it, and I don’t need your help.”
“Y/N—”
“Just leave it, alright?”
He kept his eyes on you. He just wanted to help you. But he wasn’t one to push you, he wouldn’t do that to you, not after all the patience you’d had with him before. “Alright.”This work will be part of a series eventually, for now, I'm posting chapters of Part One.
