There was no comfort to be found in this fear, except perhaps the knowledge he could still feel it. It feels like an eternity he’s trapped powerlessly within his own body. His hand around his throat constricts more until his struggling calms, his eyes rolling into the back of his head. Only then does the hand release him. Phainon inhales on a wheeze, coughing and gasping for breath, even though there is none.
Irontomb takes control of Phainon's body. Phainon refuses to go down without a fight.

Even without looking, Ratio saw the patronising smirk on Aventurine’s lips. Yes, that was indeed Ratio’s fault, chalked up to a lapse in his judgement. Now here Aventurine was, flouncing around the apartment like an esteemed guest and not a cockroach Ratio would love to squash underneath one of his gilded sandals. Aventurine liked to come by sometimes to gawp at all of Ratio’s unfinished work and make moronic reflections of how impressive everything looked, never managing to sound genuine in his delivery.
