Summary
Before Hogwarts, the Black brothers used to share everything, and leave the rest of the world outside. But when Sirius leaves for school, the world seems to come between them, no matter how much Sirius would like to take Regulus with him into his new life.
Regulus should be jealous of his brother's new best friend, but can't bring himself to hate him. James can't help but love the younger Black, and Sirius just wants to steal Regulus away from their pathetic excuse for a home. Can they save Regulus in time, or is the world going to separate Black brothers for good?
The story starts from 1971, and is going to be a long one, following Sirius, Regulus, James and Remus through their school years and Wizarding War I. It's going to be canon compliant in the beginning, but not for too long.

Poor Regulus is very stressed, and has no one to help him through. So, he needs a way to ease his pressure. What if he ended up in an empty Quidditch dressing room in the middle of the night, to have a moment only to himself? And what if it he realized only a moment too late, that he wasnt alone?
James Potter might not know Regulus and his ways very well before this, but luckily he's very quick to learn.

As Harry was standing there, eye to eye with Sirius's younger brother, the apparently very much alive Regulus Black, he remembered those words Sirius had said to him a few years back. He asked himself, what had Sirius been thinking of then? Who had he been thinking of? Harry had assumed, that he had basically been talking about himself, and maybe Harry as well, but was that the whole truth?
Which part had Regulus Black chosen to act on?

In other words, this is a time travel fic, where Harry accidentally ends up almost twenty years back in time, in 1979, where he meets Regulus Black, very much alive. This is going to be a time travel fix-it, kind of.

Summary
James has been in love with Regulus since his fifth year.
Regulus has been in love with James since his fourth year.
Neither of them had acted on their feelings before Sirius ran away, causing Regulus to stop talking to all of the Marauders.
This stops when Regulus finds James in the Astronomy Tower late at night, sobbing over Sirius telling Snivellus all about Remus being a werewolf, which had led to the destruction of the Marauders as they were supposed to be.
OR
Regulus and James find comfort in each other during difficult times, and their love for each other changes all of their lives for the better.

So when Noctis catches himself wondering what it would be like to kiss Prompto - he simply doesn’t possess that tiny voice in his head to tell him that kissing your best friends wasn’t exactly normal.
