“I watch you sleep.”
“You have not slept for the past day and a half, buddy. You need it more than I do,” Grace said and raised his sound limb, making a motion at Rocky with one of his fingers. “I’ll watch you sleep, so go sleep.”

Oh? The Petrova Taskforce? A short while before he’d fucked off to somewhere, Ryland had explained to Colt something about the Petrova Line, so it sounded distantly familiar. And incredibly not important to anything Colt would ever be involved in.
He was confused.
“Uh. Hi. You already know my name, so…”
She raised an eyebrow for half a second, then lowered it again.
“It was given to me by your brother, Dr. Ryland Grace.”

I think I cracked a rib? I don't—I'm not sure. I can't breathe right and my ears are ringing and it hurts. I can't get any air in and my chest throbs every time I try but I'm panicking and I can't stop myself from hyperventilating as I slowly float away from the hull.

Summary
Getting settled on a new planet has all kinds of ups and downs, Ryland Grace knows this. Eridian's are very different, not to mention simply their method of speech.
Grace may have forgotten to mention that some forms of sound, sudden and sharp, are painful to humans. It never came up, and after nearly a year on Erid, it had sort of slipped his mind. Not to mention, being on a space craft for nearly five years must have brought an issue like this to light, but it seems that he and Rocky had just gotten lucky.
The alternative, the pain of new sounds is discovered the hard way, with a bit too much blood as a result.

While working on solving the issue of Grace slowly dying of starvation, malnutrition, and a host of other issues, the Eridians discover the human internet (largely Wikipedia) and fall down a rabbit hole of trying to figure out everything they can about the needs of their squishy alien savior. While most of their focus is on the food issue, another link catches their (metaphorical) eyes.
"Touch starvation, also known as touch deprivation or skin hunger, is the physiological need by humans and other species for physical contact with their own species or other living beings."
No one is happy about this.
