Reaching for the cigar held loosely in Tartaglia’s fingers, Diluc plucks it free and brings it up to his own lips. He takes a slow, deep puff, letting the smoke sit in his mouth for a brief second before he parts his lips, the smoke curling up around his face in tempting tendrils.
“Welcome to Angel’s Share,” Diluc greets belatedly, voice sugared whisky as he settles down on Tartaglia’s lap.

As someone as ancient and powerful as the embodiment of Famine, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Kaeya should never look like anything aside from the destructive force that he represents. Cold and cruel, methodological in his subjugation; unmerciful to the plights of the poor, the hungry, and the sick.But here he is, with an expression that looks so loving and endearing despite his paranormality: a crinkle in a corner of his single eye that appears along with the dimples on his cheeks; a soft, reassuring smile that reveals the barest sliver of his fangs. A faint thrum beats against Diluc’s palms, resonating from underneath Kaeya’s skin - Kaeya’s power - surfacing from his body just as the hidden markings on his skin come into view, emitting a soft blue glow along with his single eye.
And despite the inherent coldness that he bears, something that just comes naturally with his nature as an embodiment of winter and barrenness, Kaeya feels warm. Human.
Or, in which Diluc is a human, Kaeya is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and they try to have a normal date. Somehow.

If Diluc is the sun, then Kaeya is nothing but Pluto spinning around him.
Aimless and without direction, only the pull of gravity keeps them together. But Diluc burns so fiercely, perhaps Kaeya doesn’t have the stomach to be as close as he’d like to be. Not yet anyways, but he wouldn’t mind falling from the sky again and again if it meant he could feel that warmth.
Kaeya’s dream, Icarus’s nightmare.
He would let that heat destroy him, consume him, tearing wings from his back feather-by-feather until he hurled towards Earth like a comet. It could burn him alive time and time again and he would still try to reach towards the thing he finds most beautiful.
Or: A canon rewrite in which Kaeya is much more obsessive in their childhood, leading Diluc's life to ruin. Kaeya wants Diluc more than he wants to be good and anything else is an afterthought.

Diluc exhales slowly. “Well, I know a place just across the road.. you wanna spend the night with me?”
Childe grins, teeth looking a little too sharp in the moonlight, glinting madly. “I’ll do you one better,” he leans in, voice low. “Come up to the Goth Grand Hotel with me— I’ve got a private room. How about it?
Diluc smiles and nods coyly, hiding his face behind a curtain of hair. They start walking and somewhere in the hood of his cloak, his expression turns into a sour grimace.
He was so, so fucked.

Diluc had heard the story a thousand times, growing up. “Lord Barbatos,” he said loftily, “was a guest at my christening. He blessed me with the virtue of obedience.”
Kaeya tensed up, all at once. “Wait, who?” he said hoarsely.
“Lord Barbatos, God of Freedom. He’s Mondstadt’s Archon,” said Diluc with importance. Kaeya would have to know these things, soon, which meant it was Diluc’s duty as a loyal child of Mondstadt to tell him.
“I know who he is,” said Kaeya, even though he had just asked. “Hold on—he cursed you to be like this?”
“Blessed me,” Diluc clarified, “technically speaking.”
"Fucking Archons," said Kaeya with feeling.
