“Oh!” Harris says, holding up his hand and showing off the plastic device from earlier—it’s a black oval shape with a bright yellow, raised circular button in the center. “This is a clicker. It’s used for training for dogs. When Sadie does something good, you click and then give her a treat or praise. It’s to indicate she did something good! Positive reinforcement and all that jazz.”
“And if the dog is bad, then what?” Shane asks before he can stop himself. Ilya shoots him a curious look, one that asks why do you care? And it’s a fair question–it’s not like they’re planning to discipline Anya in any way. But Shane honestly doesn’t know why he’s so intrigued; he just is.

Shane exhaled sharply. "You know," he murmured, voice thick, "my favorite ways are this..." he arched again beneath him, emphasizing the point. Ilya’s breath stutters faintly at the flush contact before steadying, adjusting his position so the pressure stays even, intentional, controlled. He lets the reaction exist without letting it take over. "And having something in my mouth." The admission bloomed between them, lazy and warm, the kind of truth that only surfaced when he was this pliant, this boneless beneath Ilya’s touch.
Ilya’s fingers paused. "Something?" he echoed roughly. His thumb brushed the corner of Shane’s mouth, lingering. "Or someone?"
Shane’s lips parted around a breathless laugh, catching Ilya’s thumb between his teeth for a brief, teasing nip. "Both I guess. Like my mouth guard, pen caps, hoodie strings…" His tongue darted out to soothe the spot he’d bitten. His hips shifted restlessly beneath Ilya’s weight, the movement deliberate. "Your fingers. Ilya was used to hazing. He had been subjected to it, he had participated in it, and, as a captain, he had stood guard over the rookies and protected them from anything truly harmful. But if he had been asked, Ilya would have approved of this prank. He would have authorized it, given Cliff and Vicky his seal of approval, perhaps even helped orchestrate it.
Any other day, Ilya might have been happy to play along.
But, in perfect dramatic irony, it had not happened any other day. It had happened today. And, cherry on top, of course the rookie had to walk in when Shane was already freaking out about Ilya saying his name.
