Born in the Seam of District 12, May Pewter grew up with her parents and distant relatives. She was taught songs in secret, in the sun lit forest and meadow outside the District 12. In an old cabin that held secrets from generations ago. Songs that kept a missing girl alive in ways that couldn't be destroyed.
At age 13, May's father was killed in the mines and though her mother often performed for the people of 12, her squeeze box rarely brought in enough money to feed the remaining Covey women. So May began taking out tesserae to help feed herself and her mother. Then May began to perform for the people of 12 and began singing the songs taught to her in that Meadow.
3 years later would have May Pewter standing on the day of the 66th Reaping of the Hunger Games, in a dress passed down from Covey woman to Covey woman and watched as her name was called as the female Tribute.
8 years later, May Pewter is living in the Victor Village of District 12. Her mother long killed by Snow and her status as co-Mentor not fully set in. On the day of the 74th Reaping, things begin to change in Panem. And if they want to survive it all, then May Pewter will need to keep her new Tributes alive.
