day two: eager
Phil startles as more and more dirt washes from the kid's face and little, glowing freckles start shining on his skin. He hates to say it, but he panics and starts wiping the kids arm, where more glowing freckles start showing through and the kid giggles as he plays with the murky bubbles. He doesn't know how a Starborne ended up on the streets, instead of being cherished in the temple or by his guardian, but he worries what would happen when they find the temple the kid was supposed to be at.

revival is a tricky business. aligning all those dead parts, stringing soul bonds just tight enough on the finger. there's just so many connecting parts that a human soul and body touch. a botched revival is nothing more than a death sentence.

There’s a nudge at his hand, a careful tap that finally makes him look up for the first time since they got there. Evan wipes his face hastily, trying to sniffle up the water in his eyes before anyone can see. He doesn’t want to cry, but sometimes he just can’t help it.
Because that’s his brother. That’s his big brother, in a hospital bed, with dark smudges under his eyes and a really bad cough that keeps getting worse, but he’s smiling at Evan like it’s all going to be okay.
All Evan heard was the machine. He counted the sounds, hoarded them, and wished he could just sit there and listen to the proof of his brother’s heart beating forever.

Daniel needed more. More surgeries, more transfusions, more time. Evan couldn't give that to him, but maybe, years later, thanks to Eddie and Christopher and Bobby, he'll realize. He was always enough for Daniel.

Master Anakin Skywalker has been captured; his padawan races to a small outpost deep within Separatist space to rescue him.
Because he needs rescuing. Because he's his master. Because, even if Anakin doesn't know it and even if Anakin is happily mated to some other omega, he's his alpha.
Because maybe if Obi-Wan risks life and limb to save his master before the Separatists can neutralize the threat that the Hero With No Fear poses to their cause, his master will realize that Obi-Wan is no longer some youngling in need of coddling and protecting.
At the very least, maybe he'll stop bringing up that unfortunate business on Melida/Daan.
