Summary
Sherlock wasn't sure how many times he read and reread the letter. Wasn't sure how many tears staining the paper were Williams or his own. Wasn't sure at what point he dropped the cigarette he didn't even remember lighting onto the floor. He would have clutched onto the paper, but he primally feared ripping the precious, oh so precious words that he tried desperately to engrave into his memory. Eventually he found his voice through the sobs that racked his body, “I felt the same,” He said it more to the air than to himself, wishing that a familiar noble filled that empty space, “This whole time, I felt the same way about you!”
It didn’t have to be this way, he thought desperately to himself. He would make sure of it. He would save the man he cherished above all else, no matter if he didn't want to be saved.

Lord Moriarty would deny any friendship with the eldest Holmes, evading questions about the mysterious man with skillful ease, using his charm and wealth to divert both ladies and gentlemen. Nevertheless, as always, when the answers to their questions aren’t what people hope for, nobles take the right to fabricate and create with eager hands and bigger mouths, whispering lies and creating facts to kill the boredom that dominates their miserable lives.
Or: Rumors spread about Mycroft and Albert's relationship, and every noble wishes to find the truth; and maybe William does too ;)

The cat did not move. But its eyes just barely slid open and then red met blue and Sherlock froze.
Or, William murders a nobleman who had been practicing ritualistic curses on the lower class, only to become cursed himself and turned into a cat.
Luckily enough, Sherlock just so happens to find him at the crime scene.
