An elf, always filled with compassion and kindness — dangerous traits for such a cruel world. Moonlighted skin and bright hazel eyes, still too naive and too young. Grasping to his mother’s beliefs, he balanced his distrust of humans — the ones responsible for her death — with the desire for fairness for every living thing. There was always a fierceness and strength to Paul, or Aerlas, as the elves would call him — holy-leaf.

Summary
This is an immediate continuation of "Carry that Weight", and pics up on New Years Eve/Day 1966. It begins with someone being accidentally dosed with LSD, and with Paul gleaning an insight that helps him feel stronger and more able to recover some of his sexual energy, which is pretty explicitly covered in the first three chapters. After that, THE ANGST COMES HARD AND HEAVY as one or Paul's attackers begins to reach out to him, taunting and threatening. Events force the investigation of Paul's rape into a new area.
MEANWHILE: John's bad judgement continues as his own PTSD goes unaddressed and he spirals downward and downward into places we never thought he would go. 1966 begins most dreadfully for Paul and for John.

Marianne threw her head back and laughed. All the provincial lads she'd met had, for the most part, defied every stereotype she'd been brought up to believe in; but then there was Paul, thick as a plank when it came to the ways of the world. Marianne had no doubt that he was a genius. She also sometimes felt she'd never met any boy stupider -- in a crowded field, as always, Paul excelled.
"He wants to fuck you," she explained kindly. "I don't blame him. If you were my little bird, I'd fuck you too."
OR
It's the summer of 1967, Mick can't seem to stop turning up at Paul's house, John's just about had enough, and Marianne is endlessly astonished by Paul's capacity for self-delusion.

On a Saturday night, in Colquitt Street, Liverpool, John and Ringo are hungry, but lazy. They decide for once to order at their local Indian restaurant, "Hot Chillies", impatient to get their food at their doorstep.
But no one had warned John that the delivery lad would be that beautiful.
Nor did anyone warn Ringo the chef would be so lovely.
Ensue a long quest for John to charm the delivery lad (or be charmed). But troubles lie ahead, and nobody thought it could get so complicated. They will take this, one day at a time...

The words register and Paul barely keeps back an incredulous laugh. Is Lennon… is he really trying it on with Paul? There’s no hiding the implication; it’s the same way Paul’s approached whores on the street, thriving on the ignominy of it all. Lennon must be taking the piss.
If he is having Paul on, well, two can play at that game.
Or: John and Paul don't meet at the fete. They meet in Hamburg and come together and apart differently.

Paul McCartney, born 18 June, 1999, works at a failing record shop in downtown Liverpool. John Lennon, born 9 October, 1940, played in a rock band that never made it big before falling into obscurity. The two were never supposed to meet.
Fortune has other plans, it seems.
Tossed unceremoniously into a place so close to but so far from home, Paul struggles to find any sense of familiarity. As he tries to come to terms with whatever it is fate has thrown at him, he may find, instead, that he belongs here more than anywhere.
