Summary
At age thirty four, Phil Coulson had become a stage manager, after a heady and dramatic six week romance with a scene shop and theatre department, and an impulsive and confused young carpenter named Clint Barton. Eight months later, Clint Barton excised himself from Phil Coulson’s life.
So, at age forty five, Phil Coulson is the Managing Director of Macbeth’s Shield, a theatre company devoted to contemporary interpretations of the Shakespearean canon. And if he thinks of Clint Barton sometimes, a little bit bittersweet, and a lot of bitter, no one else has to know.
But now - it looks like Clint Barton is back in town.

Summary
Phil is tired. Phil is stupid. Or, he’s stupid because he’s tired, or he’s tired because he’s stupid, and he’s not really sure which one it is anymore.
He doesn’t remember anymore when he started counting small luxuries in terms of meals. The food bank has meat sometimes, but he can’t cook it, so he leaves it for the mothers at the food pantry that glare at him because he doesn’t look homeless, doesn’t look like someone who should be trespassing in their aisles filled with boxes of Kraft mac and cheese and chicken broth and if they’re lucky, a box or two of fancy risotto or rice pilaf. He doesn’t know how to tell them that they don’t look homeless either, that they look nice, and clean, and perfectly employable - just like he does.
The one where for once, Clint Barton gets to be the guardian angel.

Phil has lived through teenage sexual repression, then Don’t-Ask-Don’t-Tell, and is currently living the life of a balding, gay, middle-aged, overworked S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, so he hasn’t given much thought to planning a dream wedding since he was six.
Clint Barton, and Natasha Romanov, run a flower shop.

It’s fine. See? I’m standing.”
“That is not standing,” Sam tells him.
“You’re bending the IV stand,” Nurse Eunjung adds pointedly. “Let go and sit down, they don’t grow on trees.”

Things like joining the circus, losing Barney, finding Barney, stumbling into SHIELD, trusting Coulson, making a different call when he's sent to kill the Black Widow, and becoming part of the dysfunctional Avengers team.
