In battle, a Kremnoan was expected to dominate by force of strength and will, to leave no survivors in service of Nikador’s insatiable hunger. It isn’t that there is no word for romance in the Kremnoan language—it is that the word for to love is the same as the one for to fight for.
Explaining this to Phainon, in far fewer words, produces…interesting results.

Summary
Phainon learned all of Mydei during those years spent training together, tailoring their playing styles to the other's; an athletic dance they used to perform on that same ground they are playing on today. It witnessed their first stride and their growth, from kids to an unstoppable duo praised by the press all across Amphoreus.
It was the same pitch that Phainon trod along on that fateful day six months ago—hefty bags in his hands and an heavier weight pressing down on his chest.
Or, Phainon leaves Castrum Kremnos and Mydei due to what he believes to be the results of his own incompetence. They meet again on the pitch, surronded by the cheers of a crowd and an unresolved tension.

Summary
Without waiting for a response, Phainon sets the stockings aside and shifts his weight to pull his boxers down from under his skirt. Now bare under all his layers, Phainon realizes, perhaps belatedly, that Mydei has not given him anything resembling underwear. He flushes with embarrassment, but feels his dick twitch all the same. Despite this momentary stumble, despite the flash of memories behind his eyelids of other times he’s been naked in front of Mydei, the open, yearning want of moments past bleeding into him like tree-sap, Phainon pushes forward. He reminds himself that he agreed to do work for this, to play a role; not to bend over ass-up at the first hint of a tease, so he forces the hot and shuddery air from his lungs and reaches for the stockings.
...
Phainon's always liked a uniform, a role to play, and this outfit is no different. In his long dress and stark white apron, he looks every ounce the maid he is supposed to be. The petticoat, the stockings, and the starched-stiff collar are the finishing touches to truly sell the fantasy, and Phainon has always found it easiest to meet expectations when he looks the part.

Summary
He can almost hear Mydei’s voice in his head, chastising him for being so needy at this hour.
“Your depravement knows no bounds, Deliverer,” Mydei would say in that husky, ridiculously sultry voice, the one he puts on when he knows Phainon’s barely holding onto his composure as is. “Are you that desperate to give into your desires? You couldn't keep your hands to yourself?”
And Phainon would just make a pathetic sound in the back of this throat, half agreement and half shame. It's made worse by the fact that they both know he’s a weak, weak man when it comes to Mydei, and the latter isn’t shy of encouraging this fact whenever he gets the chance.
While Mydei snores, Phainon, unfortunately, does not think he’ll be sleeping at all tonight.

Summary
Suddenly, a blur of motion rushed at him from the shadows. In the blink of an eye, Phainon grabbed the fist that was headed towards his face, and pulled a knife from his coat to hold it to his attacker’s throat — only to realize that it was Mydeimos, the very man that Aglaea wanted him to protect.
Warm golden eyes stared back at him, and nearly seemed to glow as Mydei smiled. “Well. Looks like you know your stuff.”
“Is that how you introduce yourself to people?” Phainon asked as he put the knife away and released his grip on Mydei’s fist.
“Just the ones I’ll be constantly trusting with my life,” Mydei said sarcastically. “So far, you’re the only one that’s had that dubious honor.”
Being a bodyguard should have been easy, but Phainon didn’t anticipate falling in love with his charge… and he certainly didn’t know just how dangerous it was going to become.
