Summary
The timely arrival of Jing Beiyuan and Wu Xi, in Wen Kexing's opinion, was something he should be extremely grateful about.
They saved him from a qi deviation, they helped him stage a rescue operation to retrieve Zhou Zishu safely from Jin Wang's captive, and they provided them all with shelter when they had nowhere else to go. And if that was not yet generous enough, the pair from Nanjiang, particularly Wu Xi the Great Shaman, apparently knew of a way to save Zhou Zishu's life that had previously been doomed to premature death due to the "Nails of Seven Apertures for Three Autumns."
Wen Kexing felt that he was greatly indebted to Jing Beiyuan and Wu Xi.
However, as thankful as he was for their tremendous aid, Master Wen soon came to the realization that towards these two old friends of Zhou Zishu, he couldn't help but feel a particular "grievance."

This time Zhou Zishu laughs out loud, bright and brittle as the creeping light. “I wonder who you think they were,” he says bitterly, “these people who’ve lived for me.”
“Is there a point to this, A’Xu?” Wen Kexing asks, wondering whether he’s been unconscious long enough for his love to have gone mad. His own hands show no signs of aging, but then, the gut-punch of qi that brought him back to himself could well account for that.
Zhou Zishu's eyes are burning again when he meets them. “None.”
Wen Kexing blinks. “No point?”
Zhou Zishu sighs. “No people, you idiot! So many men have died on my order, Lao Wen. Some, even, specifically to save my life. But no one has ever lived for me.” His voice softens. “Not even you.”

A re-imagining of the scene by the river after Zhou Zishu's face reveal if the conversation had gone just a little differently.
//“What are you looking at?” he demands, waving a little flaming stick around in his direction and it’s so unfairly adorable when combined with his attempt to scowl through the smirk that’s been hovering on his lips that Wen Kexing can hardly stand it.
“You,” he replies with a dreamy sigh. He’s hamming it up of course, because that’s who he is, but at the same time he really does feel like this is all a bit dreamlike, just the pair of them in their under-robes, the firelight burnishing Zhou Xu’s elegant figure coppery warm at the edges as the man glares at him.
“You’re still hallucinating from the dream drug,” his Ah-Xu mutters and Wen Kexing offers up a sweet, eye-crinkling smile that makes Zhou Xu scoff and return his glare to the fire - leaving him free to continue staring.
“Maybe. Or maybe I find myself bewitched by this stunning beauty in front of me.”
His smile only widens as Zhou Xu sucks in a deep breath and holds it, head tipped back as if the moon or the stars will give him the ability to stop getting embarrassed by Wen Kexing’s brazen flirting.
