Ratio needed a favor. Not only that, but Ratio needed a favor from him.

Summary
The dream returned to him with startling clarity, still clinging to the edges of his frayed mind as he rode the line between sleep and lucidity. There were flashes of a mouth pressed to his neck; blunt teeth toying with his earlobe; a smooth, familiar voice that spoke downright filthy promises against his skin; and a broad hand that slid lower and lower until it pushed beneath his waistband.
A bead of sweat rolled down the tip of Aventurine’s nose, onto his lip. He licked it away, tasting nothing but salt and pathetic desperation.
Shit. That was definitely a sex dream about his dear, irascible (platonic) (work) partner.
Or: Aventurine has a sex dream. Ratio lends a hand.

“Care to explain, gambler?” Ratio finally broke his silence, all but spitting the words. “You agreed to speak with me and let me tend to you during your convalescence, and yet here I find you moments before our agreed-upon time receiving sexual favors from a man wanted ten times over by your own organization while you are supposed to be in hiding. Is this your clever idea of a joke?”
Aventurine shook his head dazedly, choking down a gasp as Boothill’s tongue traced where the gun penetrated him.
“You’re early,” he said with all the authority and coherence he could muster, trying to override the deep shame at being caught in such a flagrant display of debauchery. “I should make you sit there and wait until I’m finished.”
Boothill’s after intel, Aventurine wants some unconventional stress relief, and Ratio isn’t happy that his worst patient has a loaded gun wedged somewhere loaded guns aren’t meant to go…

Summary
Between them hangs a deafening silence, dragging on for what feels like an astral era and Ratio counts the seconds like they were years. Doubt flickers to life in his chest, cementing between his ribs like tar.
The dice have landed, the game set– all that's left is to reveal cards kept closely guarded against one's breast for far too long. Ratio can only hope that he holds the winning hand.

Yes, Ratio remembers that first day: the Omega had introduced himself sweetly, words nearly a lilt. Aventurine. He had said his name was Aventurine, named after the precious stone, supposedly.
Now, months later with a dagger pressed to his throat, back against the floor and the window shattered, Ratio should have seen this coming, too.
Prince Ratio, as part of a trade negotiation with the IPC, is gifted a prize Omega who seems dead-set on seducing the crowned Prince. Ratio, not one for barbaric traditions such as treating Omega as chattel, resists any and all seduction attempts: Aventurine is not his mate, after all.
