Summary
Mike bleeds out, slowly, in Will's arms. Just enough energy to say the words he's always meant to say.
Then he wakes up.
It's 1983.
(Or: Vecna wins. Time travel ensues.)

Summary
Buck stood in the center of the destruction, breathing in ragged gasps. Sweat poured down his face, his back. His t-shirt clung to him, soaked through. But he was freezing. Shaking so hard he could barely stand.
The fire under his skin burned hotter. Something was wrong. Something was happening inside him, twisting and churning and demanding-
Need. Safe. Need safe. Not safe. Need-
Buck's vision tunneled. His body moved without permission, autopilot taking over where conscious thought had fled. Up the stairs. Stumbling, nearly falling. His hands grabbed his comforter, sheets still tangled from this morning, a lifetime ago, and yanked them off the bed.
Down the stairs. Each step a monumental effort. His legs barely worked.
The blankets hit the floor in the only clear space left, near the couch. Not enough. Not enough.

Summary
"Leave it," Eddie says, his voice pulled taut like a wire about to snap, tight enough to hum.
Buck looks at him, and Eddie’s whole body has gone so rigid he looks carved from stone, but Buck will ruminate on that later. But he can't exactly leave his phone under the seat for the next eight hundred miles, it's got his whole life on it, every stupid photo he's ever taken of Christopher and Eddie and Eddie and Christopher and, embarrassingly, just Eddie, so many just-Eddies, an entire hidden album of candids he'll never admit to because they constitute evidence of something he's been pretending he doesn't feel.
"I can't leave it, it's my phone. It's got— hold on, I think it slid under your seat."
“Buck, don’t.”
It’s as if Eddie doesn’t even know him, because Buck has never once heard the word don’t and responded with anything resembling obedience. So now he’s stretching across the center console with one hand braced on Eddie’s thigh for leverage, the other reaching blindly into the dark gap beneath the driver’s seat, and he’s aware on some level that his positioning is— that he’s essentially— that his head is—
He’s in Eddie’s lap.

Summary
After the bridge closes, it snows on and off for a month.
The meteorologists all say it’s too early in the season for something this heavy, accumulating to a foot all across Hawkins, mysteriously dwindling outside town lines. They throw around theories and numbers while Ted Wheeler snores in his recliner, but Mike knows this is just one of those things they’ll never understand. It’s like the sky is letting something go, shedding all the interdimensional tension built up over the past four years.
So why does Mike still feel so tense?
-
Or: After the rifts close and Vecna is gone, Mike still has a lot of feelings to contend with. It’s not exactly his strong suit.

Summary
“What? No! I mean — I just meant—“ said Mike, struggling with the words, “I… I mean… who is it?” he turned back to Hugo, “Can we know their name? It might be somebody we know already.”
Will frowned, “I hope it’s not,” he said, “I don’t like anybody we know enough to marry them — except our friends, obviously, but that’s different.”
Hugo, if it was even possible, looked somehow immensely more excited by these words, “I can’t tell you who it is,” he giggled, “That’s a really big spoiler.”
Mike Wheeler’s son arrives in Hawkins with no explanation, snapped back in time entirely by accident — and he latches on to none other than Will Byers. If only they all knew why.

Summary
It’s winter in Hawkins, and Mike and Will aren’t speaking anymore. Living in Mike’s house, Will tries to be invisible, spending most of his time in the basement.
Then the power goes out — and if there’s one thing he dreads more than facing Mike, it’s the cold.
or
Seven nights in which Mike and Will have to sleep in the same bed, even though they’re barely friends anymore.
